Our Approach

We are not high volume or on demand breeders. Our puppies are never sold to pet stores or mills and each litter is family raised by us to ensure proper socialization and care. We've never lost a puppy and have gone the extra mile to ensure all of the puppies are healthy.

From day one, puppies in the North house are a part of the family. Born in the living room, Pretzel and her puppies receive the utmost in post-natal care. When Pretzel needs a break, she is free to roam the house and find some peace and quiet instead of being shut in with her puppies much like some mills. When the puppies are ready to eat, she's always been a great mom and provides them all the nutrients they need. Pretzel's food availability is increased and freshly cooked foods are used to supplement her diet to ensure she is providing the pups with all their essential nutrients while staying healthy herself.

As the puppies grow, they are continuously handled by the five of us to ensure they get used to living with a family and being played with by children and adults alike. They're no stranger to cats as our two cats are always very curious. Also, since the pups live with us, they're introduced early to vacuums, power tools, and chainsaws - everything you would hear out in the woods.

In addition to a high quality diet and exercise routine, we also follow a vet prescribed vaccination and deworming schedule to provide the healthiest puppies we can to their forever families. The babies are given a Neopar vaccine at four weeks as extra protection against parvo, and a 5 way vaccine at seven weeks to protect against distemper, parainfluenza, adenovirus type 1 [hepatitis], adenovirus type 2 [respiratory disease], and parvo. 

Once the puppies are ready to go home, you will be provided with the puppy's veterinary information, a bag of food that he or she has been weaned with and a blanket to help the pup not feel homesick.
